Projects

The Handala association has been promoting projects dedicated to the well-being of individuals and communities for years, with a particular focus on gender equality and active participation. Through street education initiatives, we work in various neighbourhoods of the city.

A key area of intervention is represented by paths aimed at women, with initiatives of female empowerment that aim to strengthen autonomy, awareness, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. These are complemented by projects on sexual and affective education, designed to promote healthy relationships, mutual respect, and greater self-awareness.

The association is also engaged in urban regeneration activities, aimed at restoring value to public spaces and fostering social cohesion, actively involving residents and local entities.

We work in partnership with schools, institutions, universities and other third sector organisations, building concrete responses to the needs of the local area. Each project is born from listening to the community and develops through
workshops, training, sports, art and cultural activities.
A large portion of the projects have been realised thanks to the contribution of foundations that believed in the quality and social and transformative impact of our proposals. At present, we have active projects in the following neighbourhoods: Zen, Kalsa and Ballarò.
